Christian Post – Nearly three years after apologizing to Christians and calling his advice against dating in his best-selling 1997 book, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, a “huge mistake,” author and pastor Joshua Harris revealed he and his wife are separating.
“We’re writing to share the news that we are separating and will continue our life together as friends,” the former lead pastor of Covenant Life Church, the founding church of Sovereign Grace Ministries in Gaithersburg, Maryland, announced on Instagram Thursday.
“In recent years, some significant changes have taken place in both of us. It is with sincere love for one another and understanding of our unique story as a couple that we are moving forward with this decision. We hope to create a generous and supportive future for each other and for our three amazing children in the years ahead. Thank you for your understanding and for respecting our privacy during a difficult time.”
Hebrews 6:4-6 “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”
Was this man and his wife “enlightened” to the True Gospel of Jesus Christ, or are they like the masses who merely profess with there mouth the name of Jesus??

Christian News – Author and former pastor Joshua Harris, most known for his book “I Kissed Dating Goodbye,” announced on Friday as a follow-up to last week’s Instagram post advising of his separation from his wife that he no longer identifies as a Christian. He also apologized to those who identify as homosexuals, stating that he regrets his teaching on sexuality and that he had once stood against same-sex “marriage.”
“The information that was left out of our announcement is that I have undergone a massive shift in regard to my faith in Jesus. The popular phrase for this is ‘deconstruction,’ the biblical phrase is ‘falling away,’” Harris wrote. “By all the measurements that I have for defining a Christian, I am not a Christian.”
He said that some people have told him that there is a “different way to practice faith,” and that he wants to “remain open to this,” but added, “I’m not there now.”
Oh you can be assured he has found a different way. He has “departed from the faith” like so many others are doing as you read this! The Holy Spirit had the Apostle Paul write it:
1st Timothy 4:1-3 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
“I specifically want to add to this list now: to the LGBTQ+ community, I want to say that I am sorry for the views that I taught in my books and as a pastor regarding sexuality. I regret standing against marriage equality, for not affirming you and your place in the church, and for any ways that my writing and speaking contributed to a culture of exclusion and bigotry,” Harris stated. “I hope you can forgive me.”
Perhaps his former wife turned Lesbianism as well

Harris’ wife, Shannon, alluded to some of the cited “significant changes” in her thinking earlier this month, recently posting a video to Instagram where she discussed how being taught by the Church that her “heart is deceitful” was “damaging” to her, and that her “fundamentalist conservative Christianity experience taught [her] to ignore [her] inner voice.”
Her remarks seemed to refer to those in positions of leadership in the Church, as she spoke about the “culture of authority figures knowing more [than their congregants]” and what she perceived as teaching that “someone else knows better what’s best for me.”
“I think that God gives us certain faculties as humans that are just innate: our minds, our spirits and our bodies. And honestly, I think it’s three in one, just like God is three in one,” Harris said.
She used the hashtags #exvangelical (meaning an ex-evangelical) and #spiritualhealing with her post.
In other words she has “departed from the faith” also. Her “inner voice” as she states, is the Sin Nature and is just a demon spirit that she, as well as he, are listening to!
Shannon had appeared on Sovereign Grace Music worship projects, and now has ventured out to create secular music as a singer/songwriter.
She posted on July 16 that she is also working on creating a musical that will “explore themes like identity, authenticity, gender roles and power in the conservative church.”

The problem is this. Today’s Christians treat God and the Gospel as a Vending Machine, or as Pastor Jay Grant has written Are you a Salad Bar Christian?
“I think I’ll get a salad,” I said to myself and pulled into the Whole Foods parking lot. They have an awesome salad bar and inside I started down the line. Hmm, spinach for a starter. Cucumbers. Chopped green onions. A little quinoa. Yes on olives. Some salsa. Pecans. Cheese, croutons, and a dash of olive oil. Yum. Tasty and only $5.
Did you know there are Salad Bar Christians, melding together a lot of curious practices, choosing what they like, but sometimes irrespective of what Scripture might say? A little of this and a little of that. A dash of Bible reading. A few prayers. A little Zen Buddhism here, and a little Hinduism (think yoga) there. Maybe church once a month. Dabbling in this and dabbling in that.
Crystal-healing sessions, fortune telling, a little astrology, a tad of magic, medium readings, spiritism, burning sage, reiki, healing stones. “What’s twinkling to you?”
There is, of course, personal conviction in dealing with these issues. What’s good for one is not good for the other. What bothers my conscience might not bother your conscience. There is liberty in Christ. But if you understand the spiritual aspects for much of the list above, it’s wise to stay away from it. And Scripture commands us to steer clear of fortune telling, mediums, and astrology. (Leviticus 19:31; 20:6-8; Isaiah 47:12-15) The Bible is also clear about compromise. We should avoid it. So what is the answer?
God calls us to a consecrated and consistent life in Christ. Total surrender to the Lordship of Christ is our call. Which means yielding. It’s about God’s will, not ours. And then there’s this warning: “Pay close attention to what you have heard lest we drift from it.” (Hebrews 2:1) Drifting is a very slow process and before you know it you are a long ways from home.
